Repairing Concrete Cracks To Avoid Damages

Concrete is used in basements, ceilings, buildings, bridges, etc. They are mandatory construction on buildings such as swimming pools, parking lots, building foundations, and other unique structures such as embankments, etc.

The cracks are mainly filled with a liquid polymer that hardens over time. The method used to apply this polymer will vary depending on the structure in question. Ordinary concrete up to 16 inches thick can use low-pressure liquid polymer injection to fill in any cracks that have formed.

However, for larger structures such as dams and bridges, we need to use the high-pressure method. Usually, the cracks formed in such structures are long and deep.

Cracks in concrete structures actually appear at an early stage of their construction. At this point, it will be minor and go unnoticed. However, at some point, the cracks widened and this jeopardized the stability of the entire structure. If the construction method is more careful, the crack formation can be avoided.

For concrete structures, the joints must be sufficient for the drying process to shrink. In addition, there is a movement of heat and water pressure. If the distribution for such stress is included in the structure, cracks will not form.

The cracks that formed initially were very difficult to see. Once water penetrates structures in cold weather, they freeze in the cracks and expand. This enlarges the crack every time water gets into it. In such situations, the stress on the concrete causes cracks.
