How Can We Be More Eco-friendly in Our Everyday Lives?

We must act now on climate change as a global issue. We could see catastrophic events such as floods or wildfires, along with the deaths and destruction that they bring.  They trap heat from sunlight, causing extreme weather changes around the globe. We can reduce the amount of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere by making small changes in our daily lives, such as using the best reusable straws, eco-friendly bags and other reusable home products.

Recycle

Recycling is an important step towards reducing your carbon footprint. One aluminum can be recycled for enough energy to power a 100-watt light bulb for 4 hours. Six cans of recycling could provide enough energy for the TV set you viewed last night for 3 hours. Recycling is a good idea, especially if you are using plastics. It is not just plastics that can be recycled. Paper, glass and even food scraps are also possible to recycle.

Use reusable products

Plastic grocery bags are banned in many cities. You can be fined for using them. If possible, choose paper over single-use plastic shopping bags. Ask the manager to let you put your cloth shopping bags in their bagging area, rather than taking another one from the rack at the front.

Straws are unnecessary when eating out. Drinks will also be less likely to spill if cups have lids. There are many places where you can find drinking fountains, so it is possible to get tap water anywhere. Many restaurants now use reusable straws made of stainless steel and bamboo to help them be more eco-friendly.

Many people now take reusable water bottles everywhere they go after purchasing them. Handmade items from Sri Lanka are not only cheaper, but they also help reduce plastic waste.
